History & Evolution of Kochi Metro Network

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) was incorporated in 2011. The first phase from Aluva to Palrivattom was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 17 June 2017. Kochi Metro became the first in India to employ transgender persons as station staff, setting a landmark in inclusivity. Phase 2 extended the line to Thrippunithura, completed in 2023.
